Skincare favourites (featuring AVON and LUSH)
13:40
As i'm currently tucked up in bed doing absolutely nothing I thought it would be an ideal time to crack open the laptop and type up a little post (considering I've lacked with posts this week!). For the past few years skincare has never really been something I've bothered with, I often sinned and used face wipes to remove makeup and rarely moisturized. Only after watching/reading vary beauty gurus I decided to do something about my dreadful skin, these are my current skincare favorites and the steps I have taken to boost my skin and hopefully keep it as youthful for as long as possible!
LUSH // AQUA MARIANA // FACE CLEANSER
I have always been a massive lover of Lush's bath products, especially their comforter bubble bar. However, one day on a casual browse around Lush in Truro I stumbled across the skincare section, and more specifically their cleansers. Aqua Mariana smells exactly how you think it would when you hear the name, it smells like the sea. It contains ingredients commonly found in the ocean such as sea-salt as well as nori seaweed. At first the smell is slightly overpowering and the seaweed smell puts most people off, however if you're a keen lover of the ocean you will find that you can easily put up with the salty smell. I use this with my AVON face brush to apply and massage it in circles to make sure it picks up every last bit of makeup on my skin. I then wash off with warm water and go on to use my Garnier micellar water (which will be featured in this post!) to get rid of tough eye makeup and any remains. This cleanser is by far my favourite cleanser in my skincare collection. I have the smallest pot which cost around the £6 mark. I bought this pot back in early June and use twice every week and I am still on the original pot so it is well worth the money! This cleanser is the best at removing stubborn base makeup and it cares for your skin in the process. My skin always feels amazing after using this, and it really helps brighten up my skin when i'm having dull days. It's refreshing, and makes your skin feel squeaky clean. A little definitely goes a long way when using this product, and it even recommends on the tub to take a small amount. When I run out of this little 100g tub I will definitely be purchasing again. For more information such as ingredients and even more reviews the link for it is here. A massive thumbs up from me!
OLAY // BEAUTY FLUID // MOISTURIZER
Before we get into the ins and outs of this product, first up 'beauty fluid' sounds a bit dodgy if you're of the dirty minded type. Anyway, moving on. This little beauty was my sisters at first, ASDA were doing a 3 for 12 on all of Olay's fluid formula moisturizers considering they're around £5 a pop it's not a bad deal. I've always pretty much suffered with crappy dried out skin, I often used medicated creams to help but often forgot to apply them. My sister decided to push me into trying this and it is now my staple moisturizer. It is good for both the face and neck, it has a lightly fragranced smell and again a little goes a long way with this product. It seeps into the skin almost instantly, allowing you to hop on straight to the next method in your beauty regime, or even allows you to go to bed without worrying about it transferring onto your pillow. This product has also really helped when it comes to my skin, I use it twice a day (morning and evening) and it gives me silky smooth skin and has also helped with the redness around my nose which is caused by dry skin. I also think the bottle is adorable, it's plastic but I reckon it would look nice up on a beauty vanity. My only issue is that it is so bulky so not ideal if you're constantly on the move. If Olay could do another version but much travel appropriate I would be even more in love with this product. The bottle is 200ml and I have had it since April and I don't even think i'm half way through even though I use it religiously.
GARNIER MICELLAR WATER // CLEANSER
As mentioned up there this product is my second go-to cleanser. I use this every other day I don't use the lush one, and also use it as a eye makeup remover. I used to own the L'oreal micellar and thought it was great, but it often left residue on my skin which meant I had to either wait for my skin to dry, or wipe the remains off. I gave up on micellar waters for a while, and then noticed that ASDA (again) were doing a deal on the new 'handbag' friendly Garnier micellar water for £1. I decided to give it a try, and got on with it a lot better than the L'Oreal one. I apply a bit to a cotton pad and wipe over the skin. It works great at getting off the base makeup and even better on stubborn eye makeup as I often find removing mascara the worst beauty chore. It has no fragrance and works so well that it often only takes one cotton pad to remove my entire makeup! They are still currently one pound each at ASDA, and if it's anything to go by on how much I love this product I currently have 10 extras hidden away in my beauty box to take back to uni with me! (They don't have the handbag version on the website, but if you pop in they should have some).
AVON CLEARSKIN // PORE PENETRATING // FACEMASK
I'm going to try and keep short and sweet with this last product as I've rambled on quite a lot in this post. I love AVON products, especially their skincare range. I rambled on in a few posts back about their tinted moisturizer and my love for it. I often buy the Garnier self heating pore masks and love them, but I found it difficult to maintain the facemask once a week regime on a student budget, the Garnier masks cost about £1.99 for two goes which covers me for two weeks. However I was having a flick through the AVON catalog when I was back home in May and came across this little beauty, a black pore mask for around £2.75. It's 75ml worth of a wonderful mask which really drags the crap out of your pores. It's easy to wipe off after which is a massive bonus, and I can honestly tell that it has helped my pores a lot. It's also so convenient to be able just to squirt it out of a little tube instead of fiddling with tiny packets and not being able to get all the product out. If you do get an AVON magazine delivered to you, definitely try out their clearskin range.
What is your skincare staple?
